Nearly 1,000 student gendarmes and student non-commissioned officers, admitted two months ago to the training centers of the Cameroonian armed forces for the year 2022, were struck off because of possession of false diplomas.

An information note from the Ministry of Defense, published on its official platform, explains that the defendants would have entered the army « with false diplomas », during a national recruitment competition.

According to some sources, these dressed bodies removed from the workforce, who were still in full military training, could be prosecuted in court.

The subject has provoked many comments on social networks, between those who congratulate the army for its decision, and Internet users who say they are not surprised by the use of false diplomas insofar as Cameroon is among the most corrupt in the world, to stick to the 2021 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) of the NGO Transparency International.

The head of the communication division of the army welcomed, for his part, the values shown by the Cameroonian army, in particular rigor, probity and exemplarity.

It is a first in the country that so many men are hunted for a question of false diploma. In general, sanctions occur for professional misconduct or desertion.
