The Moroccan Sovereign Mohammed VI proceeded on Monday to the inauguration of the new bus station in Rabat, the political capital, which is part of the integrated development program of the city of Rabat, called « Rabat Ville Lumière, Moroccan Capital of culture ».

The infrastructure includes 46 docks for coaches compared to 38 in the old Al Kamra bus station, a 22-space car park for long-term coach parking, an outdoor parking lot for cars and taxis, a drop-off area, as well as restaurants and commercial premises.

In terms of passengers, the new station can accommodate more than 10,000 per day, compared to 6,000 for the old station. It houses a shopping center with 40 shops, compared to 15 commercial premises for Al Kamra.

The work, which mobilized an envelope of 245 million dirhams, is built on a plot of approximately 8 hectares (adjoining the Prince Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex in Rabat) and meets the most modern architectural standards. Construction work was launched by the King in October 2017.

The authorities have spared no effort to ensure that this project contributes greatly to the modernization of the transport sector and the influence of the capital of the Kingdom. The infrastructure responds to the ambitions nurtured by His Majesty the King for the development of the country.
