The authorities of Burkina Faso gave, Wednesday, December 8 in the Council of Ministers, their agreement for the granting of a new operating permit for a gold mine to the Russian company Nordgold Yimiougou SA, reports the official report published after the meeting.
“The Council adopted a report relating to an application for a permit for the industrial exploitation of a large gold mine from the company Nordgold Yimiougou SA, in the commune of Korsimoro, province of Sanmatenga, Center-North Region”, informs the document. .
According to the same source, the mining reserves of the Yimiougou deposit are estimated at 1,501,412 tons of ore, with an average grade of 1.88 grams per ton and a metallurgical recovery rate estimated at around 87.1%.
Planned for a period of four (04) years, the Yimiougou deposit covers an area of 31.44 km2 for a total production estimated at 2.53 tonnes of gold.
According to the government, five billion three hundred and fifty-six million fifty-eight thousand nine hundred and seventy (5,356,058,970) CFA francs are planned as the project’s direct contribution to the state budget. The contribution to the local development mining fund is estimated at six hundred and forty-eight million three hundred and eighty-five thousand five hundred and sixty-one (648,385,561) CFA francs throughout the life of the project.
