King Mohammed VI of Morocco visited Gabon with a donation of 2,000 tonnes of fertilizers for Gabonese farmers, in a context marked by difficulties in the supply of fertilizers, following the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
The donation was handed over precisely on Wednesday, February 15. The Gabonese authorities expressed their gratitude to Morocco for its solidarity action. « This donation comes at the right time, » said the Gabonese Ministry of Agriculture, recalling the lack of fertilizer on the international market for several months.
The presentation of the donation was preceded by a meeting between the Gabonese President, Ali Bongo, and King Mohammed VI at the Renovation Palace in Libreville, during which various subjects of common interest were discussed.
Both parties praised the excellent cooperation relations maintained between the Kingdom of Morocco and Gabon. The Gabonese President indicated that King Mohammed VI and himself are working « to strengthen the already strong bilateral cooperation » between the two countries.
Gabon aims to achieve food self-sufficiency by promoting the agricultural and fishing sectors on the national territory. Several projects are emerging in this context.
