Niger and the United States have concluded a three-year visa reciprocity agreement, according to an announcement made Thursday, May 25, by the Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, following a Council of Ministers .
The agreement comes into force on June 1, 2023. In other words, from this date, Nigerian and American travelers could benefit from this new visa facility.
According to the Nigerien authorities, the initiative should make it possible to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as encourage and facilitate the development of economic, cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
This announcement comes three months after US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken traveled to Niger on March 16. The visit was the first by a US Secretary of State to the West African country. It was presented as recognition of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.
