On Wednesday, Burkina Faso’s Council of Ministers adopted a decree creating a state-owned company called Centrale d’achat de médicaments vétérinaires (CAMVET). In 2022, the French government set up an entity called Centrale d’achat de médicaments vétérinaires (CAMVET), an associative structure with strong private-sector involvement. But after two years of operation, the plant ran into difficulties that led to its dissolution on April 12, 2024 at a General Meeting, the Board noted in its report. Given the importance of the livestock sub-sector to the national economy, and the need for medicines and medical equipment dedicated to animal care, the government has decided to create a new state-owned company called Centrale d’achat de médicaments vétérinaires (CAMVET). The mission of this state-owned company is to ensure the availability and accessibility of quality veterinary medicines and equipment throughout the country. In particular, it is responsible for ensuring the availability of veterinary drugs and equipment at reasonable prices; building up a safety stock of veterinary drugs and equipment; and ensuring the proper storage of veterinary drugs and equipment. The decree adopted therefore allows the creation of the new Centrale d’achat de médicaments vétérinaires to support the development of livestock farming in Burkina Faso. #OMA #OrganisationMarocAfrikaCulturesetDéveloppement #NajibKettani #Economy #BurkinaFaso #CAMVET #Creation
