The departure of Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed is mainly demanded by the party “Front de Salut national” (FSN) which evoked a “scathing failure” after the weak mobilization of Tunisians during the referendum organized on July 25 on a new Constitution.

In a press release published on Tuesday, the formation declared that « Saïed suffered a stinging failure in obtaining a popular plebiscite for his putschist project, and thus lost all reason to remain in power ».

If the preliminary official results indicate that the « yes » won with 94.6% of the votes, the party created by Ahmed Nejib Chebbi insists on the fact that more than 75% of Tunisians refused to give their approval to the project of new Constitution which grants wide prerogatives to the Head of State.

“About 75% of voters refused to support the putschist process inaugurated by Kaïs Saïed throughout the past year; as they refused to confer legitimacy on his draft despotic Constitution,” the statement said.

The DSF thus opposes the adoption of the new fundamental law. He says he remains attached to the 2014 Constitution which is, in his words, the « sole reference of constitutional legality in the country », guaranteeing « the supremacy of the law, the separation of powers and the respect of rights and freedoms ». .

In addition to the resignation of the Head of State, this party calls for the organization of early presidential and legislative elections to overcome the current crisis facing the country.
