The Gabonese presidency announced, Wednesday, November 16 in a press release, the signing of two agreements between Gabon and Guinea-Bissau, aimed at strengthening their political and diplomatic relations.

« The legal framework for cooperation between Gabon and Guinea Bissau has been strengthened with, in particular, the signing of two new agreements, relating to consultations in political and diplomatic matters, on the one hand, and to the general framework for cooperation, elsewhere, » the statement said.

The signing ceremony took place on the occasion of a two-day « work and friendship visit » to Libreville by the Bissau-Guinean Head of State, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, also current President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

In his statement to the press, following a meeting with his counterpart Ali Bongo Ondimba, Embaló said he spoke with the Gabonese president « about agriculture, training, economic exchanges, fishing and industry « .

« Gabon is a brother country of Guinea-Bissau, we have always had diplomatic relations, and these new agreements strengthen the legal framework for cooperation between Gabon and Guinea-Bissau, » he said.

He also expressed his desire to “make bilateral ties between Guinea-Bissau and Gabon a model of South-South integration” on the continent.

The Bissau-Guinean leader visited the Nkok Special Economic Zone located in the Komo-Mondah department, 27 km from Libreville.
