The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin Archange Touadera, and the President of the BRICS international alliance, Larissa Zelentsova, signed a memorandum on Monday 21 November which consecrates this country as the capital of the alliance in the Central Africa sub-region.

The signing took place during the visit to Bangui of a delegation from this international organization made up of five countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. BRICS representatives were received in audience by the Central African Head of State.

Touadera hailed BRICS interest in his country. Indeed, it is indicated that the installation, in Bangui, of the BRICS headquarters for Central Africa, should help this country to establish its economic, social and financial development.

Recall that Algeria announced, on November 7, the introduction of its application to join this alliance, which application would be favorable to Russia and China. But this initiative of Algiers to want to integrate an international economic unit, beyond the regional coalitions, would have provoked not encouraging reactions from certain local observers.

The BRICS are driven by a motivation to impose themselves on the international scene, at the same level as state communities such as the European Union. The bloc weighs 45% of the planet’s population, almost a quarter of its wealth and two-thirds of its growth.
