Tunisian Minister of Tourism calls for Tunis to be declared « Capital of Arab Tourism »

The Minister in charge of Tourism and Handicrafts in Tunisia, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, has called for Tunis to be declared the “Capital of Arab tourism” and for the establishment of an Arab network to revive tangible and intangible heritage.

He made the call on Tuesday, December 13 on the occasion of the 25th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Tourism, in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, reports a press release from the Ministry of Tourism.

« Belhassine reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to materialize the strategic choices for the development of Arab tourism, in cooperation with the Arab Tourism Organization and the Council of Ministers », indicates the text.

The minister also stressed his country’s desire to develop and modernize the tourism sector by accelerating the implementation of the Arab tourism strategy, encouraging joint investments in the sector, supporting the dynamism inter-Arab tourism and the removal of obstacles hindering the flow of tourists, according to the same source.

This member of the Tunisian government also pleaded for the identification of « common cultural tourism routes that include the historic capitals of Arab countries » and for the launch of promotional campaigns for the first edition of the « Arab Cuisine Days ». which can take place on February 1 and 2, 2023.

Finally, the communiqué reports that the 25th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Tourism was an opportunity to « discuss the strengthening of cooperation relations in the tourism sector, particularly in the field of investment, the facilitation of the influx of Arab tourists and the promotion of the Tunisian destination ».
