Rwanda and Turkey signed new cooperation agreements on Thursday during Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s visit to Kigali as part of an African tour, Turkish News Agency reports. Anadolu.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference with the head of Rwandan diplomacy, Vincent Biruta. “Today we signed two more cooperation agreements. We want to continue our cooperation in the field of culture, science, technology and innovation, and we have decided to increase our cooperation in the field of security and the defense industry”, said Mevlut Cavusoglu.
For his part, Biruta referred to the signing of « a few agreements and memorandums of understanding covering various sectors, including trade, investment, defence, security, education, visa exemption, culture and diplomacy, among others.
“We are planning to have even more, and we have also discussed increasing trade and investment between our countries,” the Rwandan foreign minister continued.
According to him, the volume of Turkish investment in his country amounts to half a billion dollars, and the volume of trade between Turkey and Rwanda reached 180 million dollars by the end of the year. last.
Cavusoglu also praised the trade and economic relations between Ankara and Kigali which are developing rapidly, he said, pointing out that the volume of trade has increased more than fivefold in the past three years; which would attest to the existence of « enormous potential ». He said the two countries should work together to further expand trade volume.
