The Malagasy President, Andry Rajoelina, has carried out a partial reshuffle of the government, announced the Secretary General to the Presidency, Monday, February 20 in a statement.
Seven ministers were dismissed and replaced, in particular the Minister of Labour, the Civil Service and Social Legislation, the Minister of Energy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Minister in charge of National Defence, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Public Works, and the Minister of Transport and Meteorology.
The former head of diplomacy, Yvette Sylla, takes over the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As an ambassador to Unesco, this personality close to President Rajoelina was called back to his country to join the new government team.
The post of Minister of Foreign Affairs was assumed by the outgoing Minister of National Defense, Léon Richard Rakotonirina, after the dismissal of Richard Andriamandrato in October 2022.
Eight ministers in all entered the government. Prime Minister Christian Ntsay keeps his post like several others.
This reshuffle comes a few months before the presidential election scheduled for the end of this year.
