The government of the United Kingdom announced on Thursday 9 March that the second edition of the United Kingdom-Africa Investment Summit will be held from 23 to 24 April 2024 in London, which will bring together leaders from 24 countries. Africa, as well as British and African business leaders.
It will be about “strengthening partnerships between the UK and Africa to create jobs and accelerate growth, by supporting British and African talent in sectors such as finance and technology, and by promoting female entrepreneurship,” according to the government statement.
The British authorities intend to build “on the successes of the first edition held in 2020, which was an important step in strengthening the partnership between the United Kingdom and Africa”.
This first edition resulted in the signing of twenty-seven contracts worth $7.7 billion and investment commitments of $10.6 billion.
The second edition “will allow us to harness the potential of our relationships across Africa and grow our economies together, to make them stronger, more resilient and more innovative,” according to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
