Algeria continues to refuse to face reality on the question of the Moroccan Sahara for which many countries are more and more favorable to the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007, recognizing it as the basis for a serious solution. and credibility to the conflict over the Sahara.
Willingly or unwillingly, Spain has extended the list of European countries that have declared their support for the autonomy plan for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty.
Currently, Rabat has the support of 12 European Union countries on this issue, according to Moroccan diplomacy, including Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Hungary, Slovakia, Cyprus and Austria. To these countries are added France, Romania and Portugal.
At the end of February, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita assured that other European countries will follow in the future. This official recalled the continuous opening of consulates in the southern provinces of the Kingdom (Dakhla and Lâayoune) which are currently 28 in number.
