The Transitional authorities in Burkina Faso launched, this Thursday, April 20, the « Month of Burkinabe Heritage », an initiative taken as part of the promotion of internal tourism, while external tourism has experienced a decline due, among other things. , the security situation.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister of State, Minister of the Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, Bassolma Bazié, officially proceeded, during a ceremony, to the launch of the « Month of Burkinabè Heritage » at the museum national, in the capital Ouagadougou.

This month will be celebrated every year, from April 18 to May 18, according to the decision taken last April by the government. It will be precisely a question of highlighting the heritage of the country, but also of mobilizing revenues.

« The launch of this month has the essential ambition of mobilizing citizens and public authorities as well as opinion leaders around the curiosities and places of memory of our history in order to fill the gap caused by the fall in tourism. external,” explained the minister who was in the company of other members of the government.

Bassolma Bazié launched « an appeal to all holders and depositories of our material and immaterial cultures to a general mobilization for the defense of our cultural heritage, on this historic occasion ».

The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, paid tribute to all the actors who participate in the collection, protection and enhancement of the national cultural heritage.

He urged all Burkinabè to visit museums, historical sites and heritage sites. According to his words, “all the objects of all the communities preach one and the same message, that of integrity, solidarity, mutual aid…”.

The launch of “Burkinabè Heritage Month” was followed by a guided tour of three sites of the national museum, namely the “Museum and social cohesion”, “The language of masks” and “The habitats of Faso”.
