The Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), opposition party of former President Laurent Gbagbo, published on Thursday its lists of candidates for the municipal and regional elections on September 2.
The political party provides 22 candidates for the regional elections, knowing that the country has 31 regions. Among these contenders are Sébastien Dano Djédjé for the Goh region, Hubert Oulaye (Cavally), Damana Adia (Gboklè), Stéphane Kipré (Haut Sassandra), Ahoua Don Mello (Moronou), Assoa Adou (Indénié Djuablin), and Georges Armand Ouégnin (South-Comoé).
For the municipal elections, the PPA-CI presents 129 leading candidates out of the 201 municipal constituencies of the country, including the deputy Michel Gbagbo, son of the former head of state, and the party spokesperson, Justin Koné Katinan .
Laurent Gbagbo created his party in 2021, on his return to the country after ten years spent at the International Criminal Court (ICC) which had finally acquitted him of all charges of crimes against humanity in connection with the crisis. post-election of 2010-2011.
