The Senegalese opponent, Ousmane Sonko, addressed his compatriots on Wednesday, from his Facebook page, making it clear that the results of the analyzes carried out abroad, relating to the assassination attempt having targeted him in March last, confirmed the facts.
“The results of the analyzes, which we had requested from laboratories abroad, following the aggression we suffered on March 16, 2023, have finally reached us. The results confirm the assassination attempt on my person, perpetrated by elements of the Defense and Security Forces,” he said.
He promised to return « very soon within the framework of a press conference on this point and on many others » and to give « an international judicial and internal political follow-up to this assassination attempt of which we are still unaware consequences for our health.
The government spokesman, Abdou Karim Fofana, responded to the remarks of the mayor of Ziguinchor. “Ousmane Sonko is once again violating the respect due to our defense and security forces by accusing them of an assassination attempt without providing proof. Even in the worst dictatorships, opponents are not poisoned live on the phones and the media,” he said on Twitter.
