The pledged donation will go to the World Food Program. According to corroborating sources, several million civilians have been displaced by the fighting and are said to be dependent on humanitarian aid.

The Weeknd is a singer-songwriter. It would not be his first humanitarian gesture. Among other things, he had to donate 300,000 dollars (167 million FCFA) to Lebanon to help those affected by the explosion in Beirut.
