The Malian army announced, with satisfaction, this Monday, April 18, a new delivery of Russian equipment consisting of two combat helicopters and surveillance radars.
“The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Division General, Oumar Diarra received this Monday, April 18, 2022 on behalf of the Minister of Defense and Veterans, 2 combat helicopters and surveillance radars”, indicates an official press release, stating that “we are receiving this second batch of military equipment from Russia”.
“It is the manifestation of a very fruitful partnership with the Russian State”, and “the manifestation of a very strong political will to equip the Malian army with substantial means so that it can be able to carry out to successfully fulfill its mission of defending territorial integrity, protecting people and their property, and peace and the return of security throughout the national territory,” continues the same source.
As if to convince, images of this equipment are broadcast on the Twitter account of the presidency of Mali.
Mali assumes its choice to rely on Russia in its fight against terrorism, to the detriment of certain European partners such as France.
But Bamako still denies any contract with the private Russian company Wagner, while some sources accuse the mercenaries of this company of having recently been perpetrators of abuses against civilians, alongside the Malian army.
