The Ivorian authorities approved, on Wednesday during a Council of Ministers, the finance bill on the State Budget for the year 2023 which amounts to 11,694.4 billion CFA francs, an increase of 18.1% compared to the initial budget for the year 2022 and 8.9% compared to the revised budget for 2022, informs the press release published after the meeting.

This project “comes in a context marked by the slowdown in the pace of progress of world economic growth, mainly linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict in Eastern Europe, which have a strong impact on the prices of basic foodstuffs. as well as the costs of energy products,” the document explains.

In the dynamics of ongoing socio-economic measures, continues the same source, this draft budget reflects the government’s desire to provide more support to sectors in difficulty and to contain inflationary pressures, with a view to consolidating the pace of progress in economic activities, currently 6.8%, to more than 7% in 2023, so as to preserve the purchasing power of the populations and maintain a peaceful social climate.

According to the government, the budgetary orientation for the 2023 financial year is part of a perspective of budgetary consolidation with a reduction in the projected deficit to 6% at the end of 2022, to 4.8% of GDP in 2023.

The draft State budget for the year 2023 is structured in 32 allocations and 137 programs, distributed within the institutions and ministries. It is balanced in resources and expenses at 11,694.4 billion CFA francs; which balance should evolve to reach 13,072.4 billion CFA francs in 2024 and 14,169.6 billion CFA francs in 2025.

Finally, the press release specifies that the 2023 draft budget is accompanied by a matrix of achievements by ministry which will serve as a basis for strengthening the monitoring and evaluation of government action.
