Tunisia was elected on Thursday (November 24th) to head the International Civil Protection Organization (ICPO), Tunisian sources reported.
The spokesperson for civil protection wrote on his official Facebook page that the director general of the National Office for Civil Protection, Abdessamad Ben Jeddou, was unanimously elected to head this international organization, in the morning.
This is the first time that Tunisia will lead this intergovernmental organization whose objective is to contribute to the development by States of structures ensuring the protection and assistance of populations and protecting property and the environment in the face of natural disasters or disasters caused by the man.
These structures are generally known under the names of civil protection, civil defense, civil security and are all concerned with the management of emergency situations, explains the ICDO on its site. The organization federates the national structures set up for this purpose by the States in order to promote cooperation and mutual solidarity between them.
