The capital of Niger, Niamey, now houses a boulevard which bears the name of the Nigerian Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, and which was inaugurated on Thursday 24 November, in the presence of this Head of State and his Nigerian counterpart, Mohamed Bazoum. as well as several prominent figures from Niger and Nigeria.
The Mayor of the city of Niamey, Oumarou Dogari, officially handed Buhari the decree of baptism of the boulevard, during the inauguration ceremony.
The avenue, which was previously called FK 160 of Foulan Koira, is almost 4 km long. It goes from the CEG 25 roundabout to the Niamey firefighters roundabout. The street was built in 2014-2015 as part of the Nigerien capital’s modernization program.
The initiative of the authorities of Niger is motivated by the desire to show Buhari the recognition of the people of Niger for their efforts to strengthen and promote the ties of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.
