The Comoros and Rwanda signed, Monday in Moroni, a framework cooperation agreement, initialed by their Ministers of Foreign Affairs, respectively Dhoifir Dhoulkamal and Vincent Biruta.
“I would like to thank my counterpart, Minister Vincent Biruta and send my regards to the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. We are here today to sign the framework cooperation agreement between our two countries,” Dhoulkamal stressed during the signing ceremony, adding that this “framework agreement (…) marks the foundation of our cooperation.”
He also stressed that technicians from the two countries will continue the exchanges with the aim of signing other agreements in the various fields specified in the framework agreement.
“Today we signed a framework cooperation agreement from which we will explore specific areas of cooperation between the two countries,” said Biruta, who thanked his counterpart and the Comorian people for the reception given to him.
The two parties who want to strengthen their ties of brotherhood have agreed to set up “a permanent joint commission in the near future.
In addition, Rwandan diplomacy has expressed Kigali’s willingness to support the Comoros during the next presidency of the African Union. The Comoros will lead this continental organization for the first time.
“Rwanda will support the Comoros for the presidency of the African Union, and we are ready to exchange experiences and make the presidency of the Comoros a success”, indicated Biruta who also had to meet with the president Comorians, Azali Assoumani.
