The project to create a new Mpassa-Lebombi Special Investment Zone (ZIS), adopted in April 2022 by the government, will enter its effective phase with the signing, Monday, January 30, of an agreement with the ARISE group. , relating to the creation and operationalization of the said zone.
The agreement was initialed by the Gabonese Minister for Investment Promotion, Hugues Mbadinga Madiya and the Country Director of the ARISE group (subsidiary of GSEZ Gabon), Igor Simard, during a ceremony chaired by Prime Minister Alain-Claude Bilie. -By-Nze, in the presence of some other members of the government.
Located in Franceville in the province of Haut-Ogooué, the ZIS Mpassa-Lebombi will be precisely developed on three sites, in particular in the village Mopia in the department of Mpassa, as well as in the communes of Moanda and Mounana located in the department of Lebombi-Leyou.
“The objective, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s instructions, is to promote job creation, the industrialization of Gabon and the development of the value chain within the country,” said Hugues Mbadinga Madiya.
And to specify, “thanks to this signature, 600 direct and 800 indirect jobs will be created this year. Within two years, we hope to create nearly 2,500 jobs in this area.”
ZIS Mpassa-Lebombi is the third zone to be created in Gabon. Its purpose will be to receive all types of companies, with a view to carrying out industrial, commercial and service activities in the wood and agriculture sectors.
The first two ZIS, namely Nkok and Ikolo, are already operational. Other areas will also be built in the country, according to the government.
