Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno inaugurated his country’s first embassy in Israel on Thursday, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Today I inaugurate the Embassy of Chad in Israel with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby. It is a historic moment that has matured after years of contact,” Netanyahu said on Twitter, adding that the two countries will together take their “relations to new heights.”
The embassy is located in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv, where most of the foreign diplomatic representations in the country are located. It was created four years after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two states.
“We are strengthening our friendship and our common interests for peace, security and prosperity,” the Prime Minister of the Hebrew State also declared.
As a reminder, the two countries announced the resumption of their diplomatic relations during a visit to N’Djamena by Netanyahu in January 2019, after 47 years of interruption due to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
