Washington is offering a $5 million reward for any information that would lead to the capture of Ali Mohamed Rage presented as the “main spokesman” and “one of the senior officials of the Somali terrorist movement Al-Shebaab, according to a press release from the Department of U.S. report published on Tuesday, February 28.
This document informs that Al-Shabaab is “responsible for terrorist attacks in Kenya, Somalia and neighboring countries which have caused several deaths, including American citizens”. Ali Mohamed should therefore answer for crimes perpetrated by his movement.
In Somalia, this terrorist group has been targeted by several offensive operations since President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud came to power in May 2022. According to the authorities, the Somali army, supported by allies, succeeded in neutralizing already several militants of the movement.
