Egypt is hosting, from 22 to 26 May 2023 at the Sharm el-Sheikh International Conference Center, the 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the 49th Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund. development which is the concessional window of the AfDB Group.
The 2023 edition of the Annual Meetings is being held under the theme “Mobilizing private sector finance for climate and green growth in Africa”.
It will discuss the challenges Africa faces in attracting private sector finance into low carbon investments. The edition will also discuss practical policies that governments can implement to remove these bottlenecks.
The Annual Meetings are the most important event of the Bank Group, which each year brings together approximately 3,000 participants, including senior officials from bilateral and multilateral development agencies, renowned academics and representatives of non-governmental organizations, the civil society and the private sector.
These meetings allow the institution to take stock, with its shareholders, of the progress made over the past year.
The Kingdom of Morocco, one of the founding members of the AfDB, will be represented by a large delegation led by its Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah.
The seaside resort Sharm el-Sheikh hosted the 27th United Nations Climate Conference (COP27) in November 2022. This time, there is also a subject related to climate, world news obliges.
