Burkina Faso and Morocco signed, Friday, June 9, several cooperation agreements in various fields with the aim of strengthening relations between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place on the occasion of the 4th session of the Joint Bilateral Cooperation Commission, held on Friday in Dakhla, in the far south of the Kingdom.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita and his Burkinabè counterpart, Olivia R. Rouamba.
The two officials also put their signatures on twelve legal instruments, including ten agreements, an action plan and a roadmap. The agreements concern the areas of diplomacy, customs, justice, water, decentralized cooperation, tourism, sport, education and higher education.
The head of Burkinabe diplomacy stressed that holding the session in Dakhla is a way for her country to reaffirm its “firm and constant support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco”.
“Our fight, currently, also concerns this aspect of things which is the restoration of the territorial integrity of Burkina. So we understand you, we support you”, she continued, stressing that the opening of a Consulate General of Burkina Faso in Dakhla, in October 2020, is in line with this position chosen by Burkina Faso. .
The 5th Session of the Joint Commission between the two countries will be held in 2025 in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina.
