Guinea: The progress of the implementation of the transition schedule would be satisfactory

The Guinean authorities would be satisfied with the level of progress in the implementation of the transition timetable, according to the conclusions of a follow-up meeting chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Mory Condé, in Conakry the capital.

The meeting brought together around the same table the members of the steering committee for the process of restoring constitutional order, as well as diplomats and technical and financial partners (Economic Community of West African States, European Union…).

“For us, to govern is to be accountable. To govern is to harmonize facts and words. So this morning, the government through the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, invited all the ambassadors, technical and financial partners, socio-political actors of our country, to report on the level of implementation implementation of the transition agenda”, indicated Mory Condé.

“Today, among the 10 points listed in the transition timetable, we presented to the members of the steering committee and to the members of the technical committee, the progress in terms of implementation on the first three points, namely the general census of the population and housing, the administrative census for the purpose of civil status and the development of the electoral register”, he continued.

According to his words, the first two points have already started. This government official remains convinced that the deadline for the execution of the timetable, which is 24 months, should be respected, until proven otherwise.

In this context, he called on the technical and financial partners, who have made commitments to support Guinea, to mobilize very quickly to allow the government to have the resources necessary for the execution of the ten points of the agenda. of the transition within the 24-month period initially agreed with ECOWAS.

According to a regular meeting schedule set during the meeting, the technical committee, which supports the steering committee, will meet every first Wednesday of the month to take stock of the evolution of the situation in relation to the transition agenda. .
