A Council of Ministers in Burkina Faso adopted, on Wednesday, a decree transforming the National Agency for the Supervision of Artisanal and Semi-Mechanized Mining (ANEEMAS) into a State Company called National Company of Precious Substances (SONASP).

This decree enshrines the change of name of ANEEMAS which now becomes National Society of Precious Substances, specifies the press release published at the end of the meeting.

Its adoption will allow the new Company to implement the missions assigned to it in terms of production, marketing of gold, processing of precious substances with the possibility of acquiring a refinery, explains the same source.

“From now on, the new company will be able to transform mining products, market substances such as gold, hold mining titles and acquire a refinery,” said the minister in charge of mines, Simon-Pierre Boussim.

In addition, the Council adopted a decree approving the statutes of SONASP, allowing the company to carry out its missions effectively, in accordance with the provisions of decree n°2000-189/PRES/PM/MCIA of May 17, 2000 on the statutes General of State Companies.
