Cameroon: ANOR withdraws several Kinder products from the market

The Cameroon Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR) has ordered the withdrawal of certain products from the Kinder range, from the local market, due to a suspicion of infection with Salmonella Typhimurium, a bacterium responsible for poisoning. infection resulting in gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by fevers.

“Following the withdrawal-recall of certain Kinder brand products by Ferrero, due to suspected contamination with Salmonella Typhimurium, the Standards and Quality Agency orders, in the absence of batch numbers clearly identified and as a precautionary principle, the withdrawal of said products from sales areas, ”she said in a press release.

These products are Kinder Surprise 20g and 100g; Kinder Schoko-Bons; Kinder Mini Eggs; Kinder Happy Moments, Kinder Mix. To distinguish them more precisely, information has been provided on expiry dates.

ANOR, concerned about the health of consumers, intends to rely on the inspection and control brigades to ensure the application of its measures throughout the national territory.

The alert comes after dozens of cases of salmonella typhimuirum contamination mentioned in certain European countries, associated with the consumption of certain Kinder products, manufactured by the Italian agri-food group Ferrero.

It was on April 5th that Ferrero France proceeded to the voluntary recall of these products on the national territory. “None of our Kinder products placed on the French market have tested positive for Salmonella, nevertheless we take this matter very seriously, because consumer protection is our top priority,” she said in her press release. .

In addition, the company says it is working with distributors to ensure that the affected batches of these products are no longer available for sale, and invites those who have them not to consume them but to contact its support team. consumers.
