Presidential election in Kenya: Raila Odinga disputes the results and claims to have proof of his victory

The Kenyan opponent, Raila Odinga, filed his appeal before the Supreme Court to obtain the cancellation of the results of the presidential election of August 09, which he has contested since their proclamation by the electoral commission.
This unfortunate candidate says he has “enough proof” of his victory that the “corruption cartels” stole from him. In his words, “the 2022 presidential election represents the most reckless attempt by this cartel to subvert the will of the electorate. We refuse to let Kenya go in this direction. This must not happen and will not happen,” he said.

The results of the electoral commission gave 50.49% of the vote to the candidate William Ruto, the outgoing vice-president, against 48.85% for Raila Odinga.

The Supreme Court received a total of nine appeals. The other eight were filed by NGOs and individuals. The country’s highest court has 14 days to render its decision. In the event of cancellation of the ballot, a new election should be held within 60 days, as was the case in 2017 when the Supreme Court invalidated the presidential election due to “irregularities” and ordered a new election.

The opponent Odinga has already been a candidate in four presidential elections; this number will be increased to five in the event of confirmation of his defeat by the Supreme Court.
