The Burkinabè presidency announced, in a statement on Sunday, the will of Burkina Faso and Russia to bring their bilateral cooperation to a higher level, which is beneficial for each of the partners.
This is revealed in an official Burkinabè press release published after a meeting between the President of Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, and the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, at United Nations headquarters.
“Currently, there has been a desire to further strengthen this cooperation and bring it to a level that will be mutually beneficial to both countries,” explained the Burkinabè Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, Olivia Rouamba, quoted in the text.
The press release stresses that this meeting is part of the consultations organized between Burkina and other countries on bilateral cooperation, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly which started on September 20 and will end on Monday. .
Burkina, which faces insecurity due to regular attacks by terrorist groups, will undoubtedly count on Moscow to lend a hand in the fight against terrorism.
