The production of electrical energy at the national level increased by 2.9% at the end of the first eight months of 2022, after an increase of 7.6% a year earlier, reports the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF). ), which comes under the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance, in its October 2022 economic report.
The DEPF attributes this development to the strengthening of the production of the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) by 22.6% and that of renewable energies relating to Law 13-09 by 8.6%. %, against a decline in private productivity of 3.2%.
At the end of the first half of 2022, the volume of national electricity production had increased by 3.2%, following an increase of 2.2% in the second quarter of 2022 and 4.2% in first quarter of the same year.
The DEPF had explained this improvement, at the end of June 2022 and in its economic report of August 2022, by the increase in ONEE’s production by 31.6% and that of renewable energies relating to law 13- 09 by 10%, mitigated by the withdrawal of private production by 4.7%.
As for the production of net called energy, it rose to 5.8% at the end of the first eight months of this year, after +6.1% a year earlier. The volume of energy imported increased by 121.2%, while the volume exported decreased by 29%.
With regard to the consumption of electrical energy, its growth amounted to 4.8% at the end of August, after a performance of 6.4% a year earlier.
