The troubles with the law are increasing for the former Guinean head of state, Alpha Condé, as well as 187 of his former collaborators.

After the order of the Minister of Justice Alphonse, Charles Wright, last November 3, to initiate legal proceedings against these 188 personalities “for alleged acts of corruption, illicit enrichment, money laundering, forgery and use of forgery in public writing, embezzlement of public funds and complicity”, it is time for justice to take action.

Indeed, the public prosecutor’s office at the Conakry Court of Appeal announced on Thursday that it had instructed the public prosecutor at the Kaloum court of first instance (Conakry) “to initiate legal proceedings without delay by the referral to a judicial police unit specializing in financial investigations for investigation purposes and to freeze the bank accounts” of these persons.

Justice also instructed “to proceed without delay and by means of requisitions addressed to the border police, of a ban on leaving the national territory to all the persons implicated in the present proceedings and also to undertake precautionary measures on all their assets” in the country.

The military in power, since the overthrow of the Condé regime in September 2021, have made the fight against corruption, deemed endemic on national territory, one of their major battles.

Alpha Condé, 84, was already implicated in May for alleged acts of assassination, torture, kidnapping and rape. Justice had acted following an action initiated by the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC).
