The Republic of Cabo Verde reiterated, Tuesday, May 23 through correspondence from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, its support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and the initiative of the autonomy presented by the Kingdom as “one and only credible and realistic solution to the resolution of the dispute” around the Sahara.
The correspondence was addressed to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad.
Praia, at the same time, renewed its support for the efforts of the United Nations Organization as the exclusive framework for achieving a “realistic, practical and lasting” solution to the conflict.
“In addition, the government of Cabo Verde also reiterates the support of the Republic of Cabo Verde in the search for a lasting solution that preserves the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, under the exclusive aegis of the United Nations and with respect of decision 693 of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union of July 2018”, continues the text.
The list of countries that have declared their support for the autonomy plan for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty is only growing. The Moroccan government, which also welcomes the continued opening of consulates in the southern provinces, remains convinced that other new countries will align with its vision regarding the Moroccan Sahara.
