Morocco and China sign a memorandum of understanding in the agricultural field

Morocco and China signed, Tuesday, July 4 in Rabat, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) intended to strengthen agricultural cooperation.

The document was initialed by Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, and China’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Tang Renjian.

This MoU intends to promote mutual cooperation, joint development in the field of agriculture, as well as food security and economic development, without forgetting the well-being of the populations of the two countries.

Among the areas of cooperation concerned are fisheries; aquaculture; biological agriculture ; fruit and vegetable processing, storage and transportation technology; agricultural investment and trade; technology and system innovation on modern agriculture, irrigation techniques and water management.

According to Mohamed Sadiki, through this memorandum, Rabat hopes to benefit from Beijing’s experience and innovation in agriculture.

His Chinese counterpart argued, among other things, that this MoU will give both parties the opportunity to identify the priority areas on which emphasis should be placed in order to be more profitable.

Recall that Morocco took part in the third edition of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which took place from June 29 to July 2 in the city of Changsha, in central China.

On this occasion, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, who was at the head of the Moroccan delegation, told the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) that China is at the heart of the partnership strategy. tripartite agreements implemented by Morocco for the development of the African continent, in accordance with the Vision of King Mohammed VI.
