The authorities of the Republic of Congo approved, Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, the raising of the age limit for admission to retirement of civil servants.

The press release published by the government after the meeting indicates that this initiative is to allow candidates recruited more and more late to work longer in order to benefit from a retirement pension.

Raising the retirement age will also allow the administration to benefit more from the expertise of some of its experienced executives and put an end to the pressing demands of the administrative authorities relating to the extension of the activities of their executives, including attendance remains essential.

The authorities also believe that this approach will provide an opportunity to ensure the necessary balance in the social security system for civil servants, which is heavily penalized by massive retirements.

Concretely, according to the press release, the age limit is increased from 65 to 70 for executives placed outside the categories; from 60 to 65 for category I civil servants; from 60 to 63 for category II officials; and from 57 to 60 for category III officials.
