An 11-year-old Kenyan girl sent a letter to His Majesty King Mohammed VI on Wednesday in which she thanked him for sending fertilizer to her country, announced on Twitter the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Kenya, which also published said handwritten correspondence.
“My name is Jayden Dixon Kaburu and I am 11 years old. I am a student in a small town in central Kenya known as Karatina. After learning of your gesture to help our new president as well as the Kenyan people to provide us with fertilizers, I thank you and your fellow citizens for the nobility of the action towards us,” the girl wrote.
The diplomatic representation of Morocco thanked « the very brilliant Jayden for her letter, her remarks, the spontaneity of her testimony and her affection ».
She also praised « the courage of the parents » of the young Jayden, while underlining « their perseverance, their dedication and their sacrifice » who « knew how to instil in Jayden the noble values of recognition, sharing and love ».
Morocco, through its OCP Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of phosphate fertilizers, exported nearly 1.4 million bags of fertilizer to Kenya.
Kenya, like the other countries in the Horn of Africa, faces the risk of famine due to drought (following climate change) and exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, in particular the fall in grain exports which it has led, among other things.
Recently, the new Kenyan president hinted that 3.1 million people are facing a severe drought in his country, calling, at the same time, for help from international institutions.
