The government of the Central African Republic reacted following the explosion of a parcel bomb which seriously injured, on Friday December 16, the head of the Russian House in Bangui, Dmitri Sytyi, and which it described as an « act despicable ».
Bangui condemned, in a press release, this « terrorist attack directed against a senior official of the Russian Mission » and denounced « a vast campaign to destabilize the country, proceeding through an obscurantist narrative, clearly opposed to multilateralism, bilateralism, universal values and in the higher interest of the Central African Republic ».
“The incident happened when Dmitri Syty was opening a package he had received which turned out to be stuffed with explosives. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital, where medical care was provided to him urgently, “said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release, before the Russian embassy reassured that his vital prognosis was not engaged.
The Central African government announced « the immediate opening of a judicial inquiry » to shed light on this case, while wishing « a speedy recovery to the injured ».
For the founder of the Russian private paramilitary company Wagner, Evguéni Prigojine, France would be behind this incident, and he asked Russian diplomacy to launch a procedure to declare « France as a State supporting terrorism ».
Never mind, the Central African government reaffirmed that “this attack cannot undermine the excellent relations between the Central African Republic and the Russian Federation”.
