The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, ECCAS facilitator for the political transition process in Chad, ended his 48-hour working visit to N’Djamena on Wednesday, apparently satisfied with his mission.

“I leave full of hope for a peaceful and happy solution for this brotherly people,” he said on Twitter, after saying that he “did not find any Chadian hostile to progress” and that all those he met “are for the reconstruction, progress, reconciliation and unity of Chad”.

During his work stay, Tshisekedi had talks with his Chadian counterpart, General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, and interacted with various personalities and organizations, including a delegation from the Chadian government led by the Prime Minister and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed.

The ECCAS facilitator had to make several observations during his speeches, including the historic opportunity for social and political actors to work towards a broader national consensus that could not only contribute to strengthening national cohesion, but also guarantee the emergence of post-transitional institutions and authorities that are sufficiently legitimate and accepted by the vast majority of Chadians, according to the final communique that sanctioned his visit.

The stakeholders in the political transition process in Chad have agreed to work together to strengthen the inclusive nature of the political consultation framework resulting from the national reconciliation dialogue.

According to the facilitator, progress has been made in the transition process that could enable the objectives to be achieved within the framework of the timetable adopted.

During a press conference, hosted jointly with his Chadian counterpart, Tshisekedi praised the resilience of Chadians in the face of the various hardships since the advent of the transition.
