Less than three months after the launch of the “Solemn call for the expulsion of the pseudo-SADR from the African Union”, known as “Call from Tangier”, its signatories, who want to go through with their fight , met on Saturday January 28 in Marrakech, in the south of Morocco, for a first follow-up meeting.

The highlight of this meeting is the unanimous adoption of a draft “White Paper”. As a reminder, former African Prime Ministers and former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, participating in the 14th Edition of the MEDays International Forum, held in November 2022 in Tangier, had not only launched the “Call of Tangier”, but also proposed the production of a “White Book”.

This book was to bring together their analyzes and their reasoned recommendations, as well as those resulting from various conferences and meetings held previously in various African countries. It is now done.

The “White Paper”, titled “The African Union and the Sahara Question, Final Deliverable of Deep and Inclusive Pan-African Intellectual Reflection”, was adopted and presented as “an irrefutable factual and historical argument, a legal and political document of reference, which materializes a vision of a united Africa and a renewed pan-Africanism, far from the ideologies of another time”.

The “Call of Tangier” and the “White Paper” are the two instruments which the “Contact Group”, established in Tangier, will use to lead the battle with African leaders and the high authorities of the African Union. consisting of extirpating from the ranks of the pan-African organization the “rasd”, a non-state entity that does not have international legal responsibility.

“This exclusion, legitimate from a legal point of view, should in no way be considered as an unattainable objective, because it is part of a favorable continental and international dynamic, where realism and pragmatism prevail, and because that it represents an essential prerequisite for the return of the impartiality and credibility of the Pan-African Organization on the question of the Sahara”, underlined the participants at the Marrakech meeting.

The signatories of the Appeal were encouraged, at the meeting on Saturday, by new rallies to their cause, the fruit of their awareness-raising work. Three new personalities joined them, in particular three former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Gambian Lamin Kaba Badjo, the Lesotho Lesego Makgothi and the Malagasy Patrick Rajoelina.
